Crap crap crap crap crap

Holy cow! It really snuck up on me! I've been training for almost a month and a half now but I still feel really unprepared.
The transition from swim to run has been really hard on me.
But here I am blogging at 9:30 in a roadside super 8. The canyon lands half is mostly downhill through a canyon of breath taking geological scenery. I myself am excited to try it.
My dad got to customize our bibs and so mine says "Willpower" which has been one of my many nicknames growing up.
Anyway TTYL after the race if I don't die if nervousness in the night!

Track starts today!

Track has officially started!
However it feels like track started 2 weeks ago when we were in pre-season conditioning.
All distance runners were required to run the 1600m (or the mile) and it was pretty cold so that's about all anyone signed up for because it was the first event after the hurdles.
I set a goal to beat this one guy who always seems to be just faster than me.
When the race started I felt sick, then I realized why. I had a spicy chicken sandwich for lunch! For the first lap I felt like vomiting fire and lava. Then I realized I had a choice: keep going, or quit.
I chose the first of the two, and went strong on the next three laps. I finished in 5:47. My record? 5:45. So all in all I'm really not that great. But I love doing it and that's all that matters. Right?

7/9/12

Today I mixed it up... I swam instead.
I went to warm up dry-land training first just to wake up the bones. then I got in the water and swam.
worked on freestyle today... I started out with a slow 100 M. then a faster 100 M. Then a moderate
100 M. then a all out sprint 100 M.
Then I did another sprint 100 M. then a moderate 100 M. then a slower 100 M. then a easy 100 M.
after repeating that twice I did a fifty choice kick and I finished.

Training tip: Do close to the same warm up every day, I do a 100 M. choice swim, then a 100 M. kick, then if I'm working on breast stroke that day I do a 100 M. choice scoll.

7/7/2012

Today was a beautiful day for a ten mile run it was sixty degrees.
The Porter Rockwell trail is really amazing, it followed some rail lines.
And my Adidas held out surprisingly well in the dirt.
There was almost no traffic no cars to make me stop at crosswalks.
at mile 5 I took a GU which gives me a burst of energy.
It was early and I was tired but I finished.

This is a picture my dad took I'm way in the distance.
